A RARE EARLY VARIANT ISSUE.
An impressive panorama view of Tromsø. There are two versions of the view known printed from two different stones. This first issue is without the inscriptions of O. Holmboe and Wickstrøm and the sub title is different. Both bearing the imprint: "Paul Müllers lithogr. Institut Stuttgart".
Lower margin narrow but hardly affecting the Norwegian letters below "Tromsö" in the middle. A fine copy in strong colours.

VON ECKENBRECHER, THEMISTOKLES (1842 - 1921)
"Mitternacht am Raftsund (Lofoten)"
Oil on canvas, 47x70cm. Signed and dated lower left: "T.V. Eckenbrecher". Inscribed by the artist on the stretcher "T. v. Eckenbrecher pinx 1912 Berlin Kurfürstendamm 229" and the title "Mitternacht am Raftsund (Lofoten)" PAINTED 1912
A very fine painting with the intensiv atmosphere of the midnight sun. Eckenbrecher was German, but born in Athen. He was at the Düsseldorf Academy under O. Achenbach from 1861. Travelled to Iceland c. 1870 before he made a great tour to Norway, Spitsbergen and North-Russia in 1874. Later he visited Norway several times. The painting is in a very good condition.
